What do members think of the big Panerai and other large case watch models?

Will this trend endure in your opinion?

Why does a thread like this have to crop up every 10 days or so?

I think the trend will endure, and I think large watches are fine for casual wear.

Hate big watches. It's a fad. In 20 years, people will look at them and ask, as they do about polyester leisure suits, "What were we thinking?"

I agree, but fads can endure.

I think it's a fad, but what will endure is that watches will probably remain larger than they were in the past, but not as large as they are now.

Depends on whether the case size is historically correct/authentic or not. Some of the big watches that are popular now were the same size (or even bigger) 70 years ago (e.g. Panerai, grossefliegeruhr...) while some others just seem to grow with the times and the trends.

I've said it before: you can't really make a blanket judgment one way or another. For example, big Panerais have been around since WWII. Their popularity is a function of trend, but the watches themselves are not.

You've taken a step too far, my friend. Too far.
