So it looks like it's going to happen...

Randy Johnson will go to the Yankees, my Diamondbacks pick up Shawn Green, Brad Penny and Yhency Brazoban and the Dodgers get Javier Vazquez, Dioner Navarro and prospect Eric Duncan.

Obviously this is still dependent on Johnson and Green dropping no-trade clauses and players passing physicals, but as a D-Backs fan, I'm happy. This could put us back on top of the NL West and if Brazoban is as advertised, he might turn into a great closer.

Yankees fans have got to be happy - they get the best left hander ever to pitch and probably move back ahead of the Red Sox (especially with Pedro going to the Mets).

So who's losing out - probably the Dodgers.

    What do you think?

P.S. I'm still hopeful that Randy will choose to go into the Hall of Fame as a Diamondback. No matter what he does in New York, I don't know that he'll top the 4 Cy Youngs, World Series Championship, World Series co-MVP and the perfect game that he had here in Arizona.

I was hopeful that Curt Schilling would be in the Hall as a Diamondback, but I think after this year, we've become just a stopping point on his way to legendary status as a member of the Boston Red Sox.

I personally think the D-backs are still in the woods. They overpaid for Ortiz, and Glaus is an injury concern. They also lost their best hitter in Sexson and who knows if/when Luis Gonzalez will be back and healthy. They also have serious financial concerns.

If the deal goes through, their offense should be substantially better than last year, with Glaus and Green in the middle of the order to replace Sexson, but I think I would have tried to get a better pitcher than Penny who also has injury concerns.
