Bexley shoetrees, how should they fit?

I've just received a shipment of Bexley shoetrees (size 42 eur = 8 UK) and I wondered how they should fit my shoes. They are the spring loaded type and when I put them in my size 8 shoes I don't get the impression they stretch the shoe at all. It seems they just sit in the shoe, without any tension on the springs. Are these types of trees supposed to stretch and thus have the metal springholders disappear in the wood when inside a shoe? Mine look just like on the picture when they are inside of my shoes.

Well, the shoe tree should be made based on the last, so you can hardly put them in. That one stretch the shoe. If you just order a tree for a size - not sure.

I had the impression, that the Bexley shoe trees run pretty small...
I will size up half a size, the next time, I order.

That said, the trees shouldn't stretch the shoes at all. It's a thin line between getting out the wrinkles of the leather and overstretching the shoe by using a too big shoe tree.

I use the same Bexley trees to those pictured and they seem to fit snugly enough without too much tension. Maybe I'm just lucky with the sizing. I do have to be picky about which shoes to use them in though; they're not much good for elongated lasts.

I use Bexley shoe trees (size 8UK) for all of my shoes (size 8.5UK E and F). No problems so far. You can even adjust the front width with a screwdriver. But I noticed that the actual length of the trees vary. It rarely happens that you order two pairs of trees in the same size and one is a half-inch shorter than the other one.
