Lots of good advice, especially on the non-violent side. I would heed some of that advice, but if it was me I would also like to have a backup. That being said the stick/cane advice is really good, so is the kuboton. Personally I like knives, so I recommend the AG Russell CIA letter opener. Its fiberglass reinforced nylon, and while it has no edge its seriously hard. You could easily stab a human with it. Since its non-metallic it wont be detected by metal detectors. Its small lightweight and easily concealable. Oh yeah and its cheap, under 10 bucks. http://www.agrussell.com/product.asp?pn=AGCIALO

The last time I checked your brain is the weapon and everything else is a tool. Most of the advice in this thread will only lead to serious trouble for Eason. You do not provoke, you do not posture, you do not hire anyone, you avoid the confrontation the best you can. If he finds himself in a confrontation which becomes physical then and only then should he respond. There is a difference in physical assaults. Most assaults are anti social in nature and are not the same as an assault with the intent to maim or kill. You better be able to tell the difference and respond accordingly.

I love how a thread about some pissed off ex-lover has turned into the best way to fight a dangerous opponent using bamboo sticks or whatever. Thank you SF.

I say you should only move around using an armored car. I suggest preemptively bombing his locality.

Its like when driving your car and you get into it with another motorist who talks trash...while he's seated in his car. Only when they step out and challenge you should you get worried.

By analogy, a threatening phone call is a cowards way of handling it. If this person walks up to you in person and makes this threat coupled with him punching you or shoving you...only then would I take it more seriously

The weapons and private security can only do so much. Large dogs are effective in deterring criminals and perhaps its time you beefed up and took up self defense classes...religiously.

You can always find a new girlfriend...but there will always be other jealous men and what will happen when the next guy calls you a *****???
Will you just melt away like a coward?

Worst case scenario...you'll have to slug it out with a much heavier man. Sure you might loose the fight and get pummelled, but a fight with no clear winner might be the reason why the other guy backs off...besides, your girlfriend will **** your brains out repeatedly for fighting for her love

I a fist fight does ensue and you win...just make sure you yell out "This one's for the guys at SF" as you land the final kick or punch
