Best value MTM shoes?

Newbie here. Wondering if there is a "reasonably" priced MTM shoemaker. English-style sturdy and trad. 3E width and high instep makes it tough to find a solid, decent fitting shoe. Thoughts please.

As far as best value goes, that’s a tough one. As far as value I’d say probably Allen Edmonds and Rancourt. Both American and make a range of shoes that would fit your criteria.

English there’s Crockett & Jones, Edward Green, John Lobb though the prices may leave you questioning the value. Personally I think they’re worth it. There’s also Gaziano & Girling.

Carmina is a Spanish shoemaker and has a made to order program. I have no experience with them.

Thank you! The Rancourt selection only goes to 2E in limited models and AE quality has gone down. I've tried Alden Modified last and they are $600 bucks a pair so I'm looking at a sub-$350 price point, even if they are stock and not MTO. I'd appreciate any other suggestions.

Sub $350 won't get you far being 3E with instep issues. You'd be better served buying AE seconds if you want to be in that range. Or half the quantity purchased and get C&J or Alden.
(I'm a 2E/3E as well)

You mention modified. Have you tried Barrie/Hampton/Grant? Or get into vintage long wings the likes of Hanover/Florsheim/etc.

where do you live? I would suggest going in person to try shoes on and be fitted (Assuming no local restriction due to COVID). If your feet are hard to fit, I’d suggest that rather than wasting time and effort buying online.

I've got wide feet as well - my go to's are C&J on the 325, 341, or 240 lasts

If you're fine with an Italian shoemaker, I can recommend Andrea Ripani MtM shoes. He does Blake-Rapid, handwelted (*not* goodyear machine stiched!), norvegese etc. at an unbeatable price point.

AE firsts go on sale for under $350 very often these days.
