What do you guys think is the best quality white dress shirt you can get on a budget? Not bespoke obviously, but something you can order off eBay for under $40.00 or so.

    Brooks Brothers?

Forgive the thread hijack, but at what price point would Jantzen cease being such an exceptional value? By how much could they raise prices without quashing demand?

I don't want to throw out a number and give Ricky any ideas in case he lurks here [IMG] but given the immediate lack of customer service and their order/prayforshirt method, I'd assume his overseas orders would drop noticeably if he raised his prices much more than they are now. Of course his shirts are comparable to a $150+ shirt, but then at that price point far less would buy a shirt from him. As it is now, because of the low pricepoint I'm sure there are many who just order one on a moment's notice because they're bored at work, check out his site, see some nice fabrics, and get a shirt made to kill some time. (raises hand)

I agree with Jantzen if a person is willing to wait 6 weeks or so.

I am talking about getting a shirt online that I can use next week.

I just received a shirt from Baron Boutique. $39 shipped and received in 1 1/2 weeks, including shipping time! Unfortunately, I'm no authority on construction quality, so I can't comment there. Fit was my main priority, and I thought Baron did fairly well. Not as good as my Cego shirts, but no surprise there.

I ordered from Jantzen early April, but still no shirt. I'm starting to think that Jantzen is some kind of urban myth like the Tijuana donkey show. (In fairness to Ricky he did get back to me with an apology about a week or two ago.)

Whatever else Thomas Pink may be, it is not good value for money, in my opinion. Brooks makes perfectly decent shirts. They're not pattern-matched on the sleeve heads and plackets, etc. But they're well enough made and their non-irons hold up pretty well.

Lorenzini is relatively undervalued on ebay. It doesn't have quite the cache of Borrelli and the like, though it's not so far off the quality of those other names. If you're willing to get a previously worn shirt, you can definitely get one in your price range.

    Thomas Pink?!?!?!

At $140 for subpar construction and a tent like feel, I will pass.

Grimslade, I agree with you. Thomas Pink shirts are very attractive on display, but I have found that they do not launder well. For the price, they are not a good value.

Brooks Brothers shirts last forever. No longer is one limited to their full cut size--which is truly a full cut! Their no iron, slim fit shirts come in many attractive collars, styles, and colors. Most stores, I assume, have a deal "if you buy three shirts.." All in all, a good shirt for the money.

I have not purchased a Lands End shirt in years, but I think that they make a good basic shirt.
