I'm doing some research into trousers and wondering who some of the better makers are (specific to RTW). From what little I've gathered, the following makers seem to be considered quite good:

Ambrosi Napoli
Pommella
Rota
Anderson & Sheppard
Ring Jacket
Osaku

More mainstream:
Zegna
ISAIA
Pantaloni Torino (PT)
Incotex

Are there others that you'd recommend? Note that price is not a factor as trousers from these makers are $200+; just trying to identify who the better RTW makers are when it comes to trousers. Thanks for your input.

The best trousers RTW are the trousers that best fit your body rtw. How hard can it be to sew 4 seams?

How are you evaluating? finishings? fabric? This is a silly thread.

No argument that the best fitting trousers are the ones that fit one’s body best, but I think that’s obvious and not what I’m asking.

Maybe “better” or “best” is the wrong word since it implies an evaluation; “preferred” is probably a better word. So trying to understand who the preferred makers are based on what SF members say since SF tends to be fairly knowledgeable on this type of subject (hence the post seeking input) and what well-respected retailers stock (starting point list). What is preferred is subjective so not trying to compare makers for purposes of evaluating, although if folks would like to delve deeper into fabrics used, finishing, styling, etc., we can certainly do so.

Sorry you find this a silly thread...guess you can just move along and ignore the rest of the thread.

For people on a budget, I usually recommend Hertling-made trousers. Brand will depend on what kind of fit they prefer. For people who have a bit more money, then Rota, either their brand or one of their private labels. Again, depends on the fit they want.

Saks off 5th is having a good deal on Zanella right now, BOGO at $199 + extra 10% off, so basically $80-90 a pair.

Are they worth that? I felt some in store and while nice, wasn't super overly impressed. These were the parker model.

I'm trying to stay under $150ish per pair if there are any other brands recommended around there either retail or on sale.

So here's what I have so far for RTW trousers based on input:

Ambrosi Napoli
Pommella
Rota
Anderson & Sheppard
Ring Jacket
Osaku
Zegna
ISAIA
Pantaloni Torino (PT)
Incotex
Kiton
Brioni
Hertling
SuitSupply
Zanella
Mabitex
Arthur et Fox

@Rugger - you may consider SuitSupply when they do their outlet sale 2-3x/year. Prices are usually around 50% off so wool trousers are in the $100-130 range. But no returns so be sure you know your size ahead of time.

Will for sure be picking up some suitsupply stuff during the sale.

Any one know what model these are? Zanella Pants

Flat front models include Parker, Devon, Todd, and Noah so they'd be one of those unless Zanella made something specific for Saks.

If SuSu made it here, then Spier&Mackay should be mentioned. Last few seasons hey've been putting out what would be to SF tastes, higher waist, pleats, side adjusters....

Personally never went wrong with Rota, even when blindly buying on eBay. They just seem to know how to make trousers. Fabric selection, cut...

I’ve been happy with pants from Epaulet.

Which private labels does Rota make for?
