Just ran out of my Colgate Total and realized I've never really thought about this purchase before.

Which toothpaste (that is readily purchasable at a CVS or grocery store) is best for keeping teeth healthy? Whitening action would be nice too, though I've heard that doesn't really work.

    Cheers

Don't go with Crest-ProHealth. You wont be able to taste anything after. Some have reported brown spots on their teeth.

I just switched from the above to Colgate Total "Intensive Health" or something like that, and my mouth feels more clean and fresh than ever.

    Keep doing what you're doing.

Don't compromise. There is no substitute for pristine white teeth.

Go to Barneys and get Elgydium.

Your teeth and partners in your life will thank you.

Buying toothpaste at Barneys? $9 for a tube?

    No thanks.

I also like the Colgate Total.

Crest pro-health taste and brush like crap. No good at all.

Ugh, every time somebody posts a "what is the best [toiletry]" thread, somebody has to chime in and say the only thing worth using costs $90 and can only be purchased at the Bergdorf Goodman cosmetics counter. Give me a break, it's 99% the same shit.

You want cheap? Try Lavoris cinnamon. Spectacular.

You'd think at $9 a tube Elgydium would contain flecks of gold or something. Reading its ingredient list, it's mainly composed of baking powder (Sodium Bicarbonate). That same shit can be had from Tom's for half the price.

The best toothpaste, IMO, is the Arm & Hammer w/ whitening. That combined with a generic electric toothbrush will do wonders. It's also very inexpensive.

This was my choice before I discovered Lavoris. I liked it quite a bit, especially considering the discount price.
