Best ties for different suits?

Hi everyone,

I see a lot of men in nice suits that are ruined by awful ties. Sure, I like plain/minimalist clothing, but sometimes that's the best way to go.

I usually say that black suits can have any colour tie, as black goes with anything. Black ties also go with almost any suit, but when people are wearing coloured suits, there are colours that should be worn and others that don't go together.

What do you think? My opinion below

Purple suits
Black, yellow, white

Grey
Black, purple, red

White
Black, red, purple, grey

No.

If there's any tie color that can go with any suit, it's blue, but the options (shade) can vary depending on the suit's color. Typical striped ties of 2-3 colors go with many suits, except in particularly formal settings.

Purple or white suits - surely you do not need to wear any tie at a fancy dress party? However, if you are in the band, a red tie would help set you apart from more sensibly dressed people even more.

Timelessness meets masculine style.

It's the fact that the tie perfectly matches this purple plaid suit which makes it such a classic choice. And the shirt just makes it all... pop.

How do you prefer trousers to be finished?

  • Plain hem

  • Cuffed (1.5 inches or less)

  • Cuffed (more than 1.5 inches)

  • No preference, as long as the proportions work
