Tried the search engine but, alas, I can't seem to find a good, up-to-date discussion to help me decide on a new pair of jeans.

Pertinent details: I'm 5.11, 170 lbs, and wear a 40-42 inch jacket (depends on maker) and a 33" waist (usually defaulting me to the 34s). I've got somewhat long legs.

What are the top brands and what distinguishes them from the others? My inclination is to go as slim as I can without being uncomfortable. I wear Levi 514s at present and find them too baggy.

Fire away jean-people.

That one's for regular flowers. This one's "special"...

Nearly 1,200 posts with a ton of babble and conversations going in a million directions - would take me a week to wade through it all. Best, I think, to ask a specific question and see what turns up.

To be fair, he was suggesting you ask your fairly-common question in there instead of creating a generic thread that will disappear after a day or so. We could write a book on slim-fit jeans.

I find the Nudie Slim Jims are a great cut, not too skinny and not baggy.. probably in between a Levi 514 and a 511, closer the 511 cut.

OP, did you like the fit on the 514s when you first got them? Mine stretched a lot and don't fit as slim anymore which is disappointing.
