Best Shoes to Pair with Jeans and a Sportscoat

What's your go to shoes to pair with blue jeans and a navy sportscoat? The sportscoat is nice but rather casual--patch pockets, unstructured, etc.

Well first off exercise caution with jeans and a sport coat. That look comes with a high degree of difficulty on order to avoid looking like Jeremy Clarkson.
I’ve done it a few times myself - dark jeans and a grey Donegal blazer. I’d either wear burgundy shell longwing gunboats or snuff suede Chelsea boots with dainite soles. Chunky loafers (ie Aldens not dainty Gucci borsebits) could work. Gotta be something a bit more rugged than shiny oxford lace ups.

I would personally advise to stick to suede oxfords, loafers or chukka boots.

Jeans and sport coat don't pair well, as they are different levels of formality. Jeans are workwear, combine them rather with a chore jacket, a lumberjack jacket, a western jacket or a different, not tailored jacket.

I would try to avoid shiny or very polished shoes. Suede Chelsea boots and textured leather loafers would be my selections.

Rounder suede shoes work well. Crockett & Jones Lanark in dark brown suede, for example.

I'll agree to disagree. Many of the examples are shoes that are way too shiny and use rather elegant lasts for jeans.

Blazers and jeans work well in so. cal. nice shirt, t, mock, collar, or polo.

I'd go with suede - loafers, bluchers, boots. Shell cordovan (loafers, bluchers, boots) works too IMO if they aren't too shined up.
