Same owners, but the one in the Rock arcade is WAY better. Drawbacks: the line is always unbelievably long, and once you get in the chair, it takes those guys 15-20 minutes to shine your shoes.

In the Rock Center arcade, it's only $2.50. $3.00 for boots.

That's pretty good. You leave a tip too, I suppose?

Yeah, generally $2. I'm not sure how much is standard.

I've been going to the Rock Center location for 3 years now - the biggest drawback is the line which can sometimes make the wait as long as 30-40 min. (as the guys take 15-20 min. to shine a pair of shoes).

I have it down to a science by now - go at either 8:30-9:00 in the morning or 4 in the evening.

The shoe repair place under the north side of 666 Fifth, on the way to the subway.

The two women who do shines seem to be dedicated to "outshining" the men... superb effort, including bringing back to life a pair of Ferragamo's that I thought were dead and gone. As at Eddie's be prepared for 15+ minutes... but not much of a line.

For New Yorkers: Going back a ways, I miss the guy under the stairs in Grand Central near the S train!
