I have a pretty substantial reweaving job I'd like done. Willing to pay for the best possible job. Who should I go to in New York City?

Will reveal the nature of the fix after it's done.

Yep. This will be interesting--if possible. French-American is good? I heard Zotta was gone.

they fixed one small thing I had as well as Alice. Alice was great because she didn't even look at you and treated you as if she didn't even want your business, but the work was out of this world.

Just FYI, in terms of holes, most of these places have a "quarter" rule. if the hole is bigger than a quarter, then won't take the work.

If price is no object, why confine yourself to NYC? Is it something that cannot be safely or easily mailed?

Because the best of everything is in NYC.

Okay, you're right, I'm open to suggestions outside of NYC. As a snobby New Yorker, I just naturally assumed the best would be here. :)

That said, if more or less equal, I'd prefer to bring the job to someone local.

Well, strictly speaking, this isn't a "hole."

Well, I guess it is. I dunno.

In that case, I've had good work done by Parkway Cleaners in DC, but it was a pretty small job. Then of course there's SF member stubloom:

have never used myself, but they have a great reputation. They say they don't accept jobs from outside AZ, but if it comes down to it, PM stubloom and he might be able to work with you.

We used Parkway Cleaners to take care of my wife's wedding dress.

But my point was: why bother sending anything out of NYC unless the place has a better reputation than local options?

I called both Zotta and French-American. The latter seamed friendlier and more eager to take the job after I described it. Both said it would be challenging, but likely doable.

Any other suggestions? Any comparisons between the two already mentioned?

Have you considered taking up stand up comedy?

my experience is that I would first go to Zotta before anyone else but realize that the place is not pretty, their bedside manner is not great but the work is unquestionable.

Manton seems to have a lot of reweaving issues, maybe ask him directly.

I did, but he is playing hard to get. The coy bastard.

I don't care about bedside manner. But I do worry that they may no longer be at the top of their game.
