What's the best restaurant in London in your views, all things considered (food, location, price etc.)?

The French Kitchen in Soho is pretty dank but the food is ace - isn't that all that counts?

what else but the food makes a great place to eat?

You'd expect good dim sum in Chinatown, but weirdly, it's a little known fact that one of the best dim sum joints in town is way out in Harrow, North west London.

I LOVE Barrafina for seafood and Zuma for awesome Japanese food.

Hakkasan has great dim sum - had some venison puff thing there the other day, excellent. It's not exactly a traditional cheap and cheerful dim sum place, but it has some awesome menu items and the more traditional stuff is very well made.

I agree Zuma is a great place too. For indian, Chutney Mary or Bombay Brasserie.

Best in London? Its a bit of a cop-out to just go through the ones with michelin stars and fancy tasting menus and say that one of them is currently the "best". Ramsay's place in Chelsea has great food, great service, try it if you haven't been there, but at the end of the day there are a lot of good chefs with expensive restaurants and good waiters in this town so I don't see myself going there more than once every year or two.

If you want a lower pricetag, somewhere more central, a more casual environment? I guess McDonalds could fit the bill, but you compromise somewhat on the food and the service. For a chain with great food and a bit of style I'm finding myself at Gaucho Grill quite a lot (argentinian steakhouse). Not the 'best restaurant' you will ever find, but best for me when I'm in the mood for a steak and a good bottle of red.

I visited Ramsay's Petrus last fall, it was excellent. Talking prices, this is certainly upper level. The 8 course tasting menu was only £90.00 though, a decent price for a fantastic meal. The wine list however

Thank god for other people's representation accounts, as I otherwise would have made a fool of myself by drinking water the whole evening.
