Could people please list the best MTM/bespoke suits in NYC for under $2K? Travelling tailors are not an option for me, neither are people outside Manhattan (i.e. Ercole and the like).

I am currently have a suit made by Traguardo and will post a review once its completed (so far so good, Lucio seems like a pretty experienced guy). Eredi Pisano also intrigues me.

Thanks,

Panzer

I have heard good things about Martin Greenfield of Brooks - Brooks standard MTM service, on the other hand, is a joke.

Based on my experience for your price range, Brooks MTM by Greenfield is your best bet. I cannot comment on the other MTM program at Brooks, however, by Brooks' own admission, Greenfield is its top of the line.

If you try it go to 346 Madison to Jay Walter on the 6th Floor, and tell him that I sent you. I recommend 346 over the other locations because Mr. Walter is in daily contact with the factory and the Messrs. Greenfield, it has the best fitters, and it does the most MTM business.

Thank you - does Greenfield specialise only the BB sack cut, or is also willing to do an English suit?

Mark - If one is not in a rush, would you recommend waiting for the next Brooks MTM event (in Sept, I recall) when Martin Greenfield is available himself to do the actualy measuring/fitting?  I ask because I've had not so great experiences with some of Brooks' fitters in the past, but have heard universal praise for the Brooks MTM garments if measured by the man himself.

Alternatively, if there is someone at 346 Madison (Jay Walter?) that you feel could do the same job as Mr. Greenfield, I'd appreciate that information too.

Thanks and regards,
Tom

Although I have great admiration and respect for Mr. Greenfield and have been fitted by him a number of times, I feel that the regular fitter, Alfredo, will do an excellent job. He's exclusive to the MTM department. I'm waiting on my first suit from his measurements.

However, Martin will make appointments during the week. Speak to Jay.

Greenfield can do either the traditional sack or a fitted suit.

P.S. Jay Walter is neither a tailor nor fitter. He's a good, old-fashioned salesman who can advise and guide you in your choices. Jay delegates fitting to Alfredo, the tailor, who will eventually direct the alterations and finishings, such as the postioning of buttonholes.

Cheers.

Thanks SOB for the replies.  If I can get an appointment to be fitted with Mr. Greenfield at Brooks before their next MTM trunk show, that would be excellent.  Otherwise, I'll look for Alfredo.  I will be sure to speak to Jay on my next visit.  Thanks again.

Regards,
Tom

PS - Hope you can provide an update when you receive your first suit from Alfredo's measurements.
