Best Money for Value Boat Shoes?

I was wondering who offers the best value boat shoe out there?

I ask as I'm in the market for a new pair as I had to chuck a pair I've had since high school recently. I've heard that go to's like Sperry and Sebago have declined in quality over the past few years.

Are there any alternatives out there that are better quality but won't break the bank?

I would give a look at Oak Street Bootmakers. Their offerings have a higher purchase price than the two brands mentioned, but you can re-sole them and in theory keep them forever if you look after them. The look of this type of shoe doesn't really go in and out of style so in my opinion there isn't an advantage of buying a new cheaper pair every two years or so.

You could try Jack Erwin as they have boat shoes for about $125. I can't speak to their quality although I have a pair of their boots which I like a lot.

I recently bought a pair of Paraboot Barth boat shoes, which are working out rather well.

I was actually about to ask about Jack Erwin-I know their blake stitched/Goodyear welted stuff generally gets good reviews, but their boat shoes are an unknown for me.

Rancourt, Oak Street, and Quoddy are good places to start.

I would consider those, but they are quite a big purchase for me for now. :/

Try the brand "Chatham", afinepairofshoes stocks them.

Trussardi from Yoox was my own recent answer to this question - see couple below. Fit small, I had to go with 45, although I'm 44 (11D) in everything else.

Er...they have to be.....at the very least.....decent looking!

Beauty is in the eye of beholder, obviously - to me, they are better looking than Paraboot or Oak Street, mentioned in this thread. May be they are less traditional-boat-shoes-looking, crossing into sneakers a little bit, and that's what I like about them.

Ordered a pair of these from Jack Erwin.

I'll post pics when they arrive.

If anyone else is in the market, I wear AE Eastport boat shoes when I’m sailing. They’re outstanding; better than any of the Sperry’s I wore in the past. I have them in tan and I am ordering the brown now that they’re on sale.
