Best Las Vegas Restaurants - Not French - Update info for now instead of before now.

Taking another trip to Vegas, this time withg my wife (her first time). We're young.

I've seen the other threads but obvs the food scene is always changing, so what are currently the most interesting/best places to eat?

I want to avoid French because we won't want to deal with a 2+ hr meal before a concent (and we go to Daniel semi-frequently), so would include steak (if not boring), tapas, whatever else... All suggestions welcome.

Oh, also better if it's a place where we can be in coat+tie and fancy shmancy dress without looking out of place. Concert is at Encore. Money not really an issue.

Cut or Carnavore for steak. I think they're located in the Venetian/Palazzo.

Something in coat and tie I would suggest Picasso at Bellagio

Julian Serrano's @ Aria is pretty good for tapas and wine.

Yeah I've been there a few times, it's good but a bit more casual in atmosphere than what I was looking for.

Check out the laundry room on Fremont and the chandelier bar at the cosmopolitan for bars

I was in Vegas in 2010 and my conclusion was that there are no "nice" restaurants in Vegas. They're dressy, the food is fancy, but it's not mind-blowing like some of the places I've been to. I also found it overpriced for what it is. Don't go to Vegas in search of fine cuisine is my advice.

Clearly you do not go to Vegas for the purpose of dining, but when in Vegas you seek out the best of what's available (and there are plenty of very good options).

Also helps to have the attitude that something doesn't have to be world-class mind-blowing in order to be sufficient.

Just posting my advice for future users who search it out. I don't want them to be as disappointed as I was. You just need to set your expectations accordingly. Obviously I didn't eat everywhere so I can't sat it definitively, but I tried lots of well reviewed places (by users, Yelpers and pros) but I was never fully satisfied.

It's got quite a few unique spots, actually.

I should have couched my earlier answer a little better. Don't get me wrong, the food in Vegas was good, I had many a decent meal. I just didn't find any gems. I think the atmosphere is not conducive to unique creations or anything not tailor made for the masses. There is too much money invested in Casinos not to open a restaurant that everyone can eat at. They're not opening their doors to any unheard of chefs. They want a guaranteed crowd and that often means "celebrity" chef. Maybe you can find special places off the beaten path, I honestly don't know, but everything on the strip was corporate. Like I said, if you go expecting this, you'll be find and get a good meal.

I was in Las Vegas a few months ago. The Italian American Social Club is open to the public for dinner. It is very "old school" Vegas. It's been around forever and yes, all the famous/infamous Italians went there. Those without a tie will feel out of place. The owner is on hand to make you feel welcome. There is no place better for Chinese, kidding, Italian food around.
