I have just placed an order for a Nelson bench reproduction from Poly and Bark. It seems there as been a recent proliferation of modern furniture reproduction stores. Rove Concepts was the only one I knew of in the mid to late 2000s but now it seems there are a ton

Rove Concepts

Poly and Bark

Bauhaus 2 your house (by far the best name IMO)
https://www.bauhaus2yourhouse.com/

I'm sure there are others but I wanted to create a thread for people to discuss their experiences with these companies

Anyway I ordered the below in walnut from poly and bark and will report on my experience

Here are a couple of other reproduction companies you might want to consider:

France & Son https://www.franceandson.com/
Article https://www.article.com/

With relatively simple stuff like that bench, any of these companies can be okay (they generally get their stuff made in China and some by actual craftspeople). It's once you get up to the more technically-demanding furniture or pieces where materials and design features really matter that you get problems. Especially with some of the Wegner-era Danish furniture, there is usually a heaviness and a lack of elegance, and in the case of things like sideboards, they are simplified to the point where they really have none of the internal structure of features of the originals, just a couple of shelves. It's all about economizing.

Personally, we looked at some stuff and decided that it's alway a false economy and we looked for vintage items or modern items on sale from original manufacturers.

I am doing a story on designer furniture knock offs to be featured in NYC newspaper Metro and would like to hear from those in the industry about the furniture/accessory knockoffs -- do they exist? Are they worth it? Do they fall apart like knockoff handbags?

please respond to this post with comments and also let me know if you would like to be interviewed this weekend.

Hey, what about furniture especially live edge furniture including dining tables, coffee tables, and slabs. Is there anyone who has used these on mass level?
