I currently have avast! Home. Should I change to something better, if there is in fact something better? Not a big fan of AVG.

I have avast! as well.

Honestly, avast! or Avira will do fine. I despise AVG, and don't recommend it at all.

avast! / Avira + Malwarebytes + Spybot = perfect

I don't despise AVG...it does the job and it's free. Otherwise, it's Kaspersky

Owned and built my own rigs since 2004, never used an anti virus ever.

Script blocker + Firefox + Adaware. I have NO idea how people get viruses.

If you buy all your software legitly, and never exchange keys or anything else with other people, than you'll probably never get a virus. Most people cheat and download illegal software once in a while, and there are frequently viruses embedded.
