If we're taking that angle surely Al Sharpton takes the medal for most drastic transformation. His current self embodies the very best of the New York style (in the mind of those who don't live in New York that is - the romantic New York I remember from years ago) - sharp and just on the wrong side of ostentatious which fits his perfect showmanship and aggressive style. Putting what I suspect is huge effort at his age to remain in a shape that would shame most of his grandchildren's generation. A true "self made man" - move over Gekko! (Discussions of views, selective quoting and Chilean economic miracles should perhaps best be kept to the CE part of the forum.)he was known for being well dressed.
From a 1990 AP article:
″I suppose some folks are so used to seeing us in dungarees and overalls - you know, out on the plantation or something,″ Dinkins said. ″But I don’t see anything wrong with being neat and clean.
″One reporter wrote that ‘Dinkins is a slick suit.’ I’m still trying to figure out what a slick suit is. If it means that it was well-tailored and cleaned and pressed, he’s right.″

Leon Blum - Former French Prime Minister.
I'm not sure where Sharpton gets his suits, but it isn't Freddy's Fashion Mart.
Valéry Giscard d'Estaing.
And the U of Chicago Economics Dept, (where I did graduate work-it is now. Oddly enough, thanks to him.
