Agree on Hanks even though DB/shawl lapel isn't my personal taste (probably not what I'd buy but looks great, and distinctive, on him). Clooney looks as though he spilled on his and this one was just sitting around the theater; 2b (both buttoned = vomit), notch lapel and what appeared to be bubbling along the outer edge of the lapel.

As for Crystal, perhaps give him the benefit of the doubt that showing up in white tie regalia was supposed to be for comedic affect? Or maybe he's hosted this thing so many times that this was the one iteration of formal wear he'd yet to try? Really the crux of the problem was the waistcoat; it was just too low (needed adjusting at the neck or was just a size too big) because not only is it sticking out below the jacket but I don't think I've ever seen a proper white tie getup showing four studs above the top of the waistcoat.

This is a great example of how a man should dress for a black tie event.

To quote Eva Green, " There are dinner jackets and dinner jackets; this is the latter."

His "accessory" has always been the one to watch.

Clooney is good-looking, successful, and slays more ass in a month than Reborn has in his life. Therefore Clooney must be gay. :nodding: Don't worry, let Rebprn get some confidence under his belt and he'll drop this schtick.

    This is a clever tautology.

On the whole I thought the male sartorial standard overall was a good deal better than in the ceremonies a few years back, which may indicate a heartening trend.

Is it any more tired than the "good-looking male actor must be gay" meme? I mean seriously, I thought that shit died out amongst all but the most adolescent.

It died when I killed it. By being good looking, being a famous A-list male actor and by being not gay. :bigstar:

Hanks loses points for having vents.
Clooney was a mess - notches, two buttons fastened, same point collar with too many studs, no breast pocket, flaps ...
Firth's lapels far too wide but that's TF for ya
Pitt as usual with puddles round his ankles
Crystal's white tie was a mess, waistcoat all wrong, needed a wing collar
His black tie was too shiney with dodgy looking lapels
Bradley Cooper looked good but needs a shave

Clooney has it all figured out, he is what a movie star should be. Classy in public but has a real good time behind the scenes. Given all the ladies he has dated the fact not one has come out with a 'story' is a major credit to the guy.

too bad the DJ was crap and even worse he had no clue how to wear it.

Echo the earlier sentiments about Tom Hanks.
