Even if the rest of the house is looking bad, having the color of your towels, sheets, and window coverings coordinated can help things look more put together. The best thing to do, especially when you’re starting out, is to buy simply-designed “domestics” that are cheap and replaceable from discount stores, and when they get faded and grubby, throw them out and get new ones. Not sure what colors to choose? White is always a safe bet, as well as whatever your favorite color is. For bedspreads, choose something darker rather than lighter, especially if you sit on your bed at all.
