I have Regarding Cocktails which I think is beautiful, but I haven't made any cocktails out of it though it certainly does not require specialized ingredients in most cases -- it will say, for instance, Islay whisky (not 1979 Port Ellen). The Canon book is pretty good, and Beaudreu tends to keep things reasonable, unlike, say, the Dead Rabbit book, geez. I am kind of sick of cocktail books, to tell you the truth, so many of the drinks are just meh when I make them.

The dead rabbit book is awful unless you’re a fanboi of the place.

I'm not sure how it compares to others, but The Bartender's Bible is what I use for all my drinks, and I've had no complaints yet.
