Yeah, man. It took forever. I can't believe how close it came out compared to the design we sketched together. Was sure it was going to turn out a monstrosity, so that's why I didn't really push it along faster.

Also, I couldn't see them for a fitting until we went to London for whnay's wedding.

Sounds like a sartorial equivalent of "double or nothing."

Does Luca no longer come to New York or did you have to have the fittings with Mariano?

A close friend uses Kilgour* and I have seen several of his suits. A somewhat standard military cut, but with softer shoulders than people like Dege, M&M, Welsh etc. Its quite a good look. I don't see why they couldn't make a solid effort at recreating the original for a customer - they seemed very eager to please without the prescriptiveness of A&S and Hunstman. And, as I mentioned, they visit NY 5x a year now, a frequency unheard of amongst SR firms.

* Same firm: Kilgour = Weatherill. They'll make clothes under either label.

Just received my vintage tweed greatcoat from Rubinacci. It is a masterpiece. Straight out of 30's war footage. The strangest looking envelope pockets ever seen (like they were bred with rounded patch pockets).
