In this price range range what do you think is the best quality suit? Looking for something conservative yet reasonably current (ie 2 button, side vented, flat front pants, conservative navy or gray solid)

Brooks Bros Milano (got one on sale for $700, vs $1000 regular; still can return it)
SuitSupply
My.Suit (mysuitny.com), semi-custom
Charles Tyrwhitt
various custom places in NYC discussed on Style Forum (I think some are below $700)
other?

While I'm a fan of on-sale 1818 suits, I'm not sure the Milano passes for at all conservative. The short jacket length, near complete lack of shoulder padding, and Mad Men lapels strike me as pretty fashion forward.

Otherwise, BB 1818 would be my pick [not that I'm greatly experienced with the other choices]

Thanks. I hear you on the 1818 - I like the Fitzgerald though I don't know why they insist on making it with a center vent.

I think the milano is fine for work. It's actually cut pretty similar to the fitz. I wear the milano and fitz

also consider Andrew Lock suits a line from a forum member. you can get good quality MTM at your price point.

I see good reviews from suit supply too around the forums. supposed to be good bang for buck. never tried them tho

BB Milano should be okay for work. Although it's relatively slim, the overall styling is conservative enough for work (unlike RLBL).

Also check out yoox. I just picked up a Caruso for ~ $450, will be interesting to see how it fits since they used to make RLBL and Black Fleece suits.

A lot will depend on how the brand fits you and in this range I think that should be your priority. Anyway, there are a number of fused suits (not already mentioned) in this range that might work for you. Some of these would have to be on sale though to find for less than $700.

- Hugo Boss
- Strellson (similar to HB)
- Coppley
- Z Zegna (can be found on ebay in this range NWT)
- Hickey Freeman (I think)
- Benjamin (on Ehaberdasher)
- Rick's Kansas City
