Never heard of them, but their shirts seem kind of drab to me. Have you looked at any of the shirts Freenote is making? I know you are particular about length etc., but they made some really nice, non-distressed western shirts in the U.S. from some very nice fabrics. They are probably my go to for these kinds of things since I already own most of what I'd wear from RRL

Freenote fabric and construction is absolutely the best. However, their neck sizing is often a full inch larger than the industry average for the same size. That may not matter to most. However for anyone who is used to having bespoke or MTO shirts it feels "off"

speaking of which I have been looking at some RRL alternative, I guess I'll check Freenote and Rogue Territory (don't need anything but kind just random browsing)?

Anyone with a credit card can buy 13 relatively similar denim shirts, but eccentric buying habits are not that cool. Good for internet points, though. But it takes some real commitment to always wear the same one. Break it in. Get some stains. Make it your own. That commitment is much cooler, at least to me.

If I were so inclined to wear a denim western shirt most days (and I wish I were), I'd love to wear the **** out of one raw shirt and really make it personalized. Maybe get a pre-distressed shirt to wear on the occasional wash day. Maybe get a black one for evening wear or to impress some of the moms in carpool line. But default is to the one raw shirt.

So, three. I guess my answer for maximum cool is three.

I read somewhere (Permanent Style, maybe?) that Ethan Newton of Bryceland's wears (and washes) the same sawtooth denim shirt twice a week. Basically beats the hell out of it as you suggest.

I like to mix them up. Iron Hearts are great but they are HEAVY.

I have a cotton/linen western shirt from Iron Heart and it's incredible.
Iron Heart made my favorite jeans. 13 years and still going strong.

I don't have a cat in this... lively discussion... but thinking of @TheFoo's explanation that he didn't want to risk taking Charvet out of its comfort zone, I recall reading that another classic shirtmaker, Turnbull & Asser, created its now iconic three-button cuff for a customer in the 1960s or 1970s who had them make Western-style shirts with that buttoning. In other words, a classic shirtmaker like Charvet might be able to handle a Western shirt order. Although I do appreciate that it might not have access to the right sort of cloth (ironic given their 6000 cloths). Why not go to Kabbaz? He's much closer to you, loves multiple shirt orders and boasts that he's made everything, including karate gis. And I know that foo is a man of exacting taste, so he would surely appreciate Kabbaz's vaunted claims to be the best...

RJ dropping a terrible suggestion to see if Foo will take the bait and have it result in another epic Foo thread

what's the relevance of the porcupine? I'm (not unentirely) serious: he claims to be able to do all kinds of stuff and to be dedicated to getting it right, and he's close enough by. It's a major PITA trying anything new with a maker 3,000 miles away who doesn't travel. Otherwise, I think @Shirtmaven volunteered upthread...

Posted for the video. That's how I imagine you're chewing on your snack after dropping a BS comment to blow up a thread.
