Bespoke vs. MTM Suits

So what do you prefer: bespoke or MTM suits. Keep in mind that MTM is easier and you can readily go into many brand stores. However, bespoke is more personalized and exacting.

What's in your closet? My guess is that MTM is the way many prefer to go. But let's see....

Also, if you have any bespoke or MTM places that you think are great, please note.

Why in the world would anyone prefer MTM besides the fact that it is usually cheaper? I do not understand why anyone would do brand MTM. I see that some people go to department stores and have their measurements sent to another country where the item is made. Talk about impersonal service. I would much rather find a local artisan who would give me several trial fittings and so on. So really: the fit is not as good, the service is not as good, and you don't get to say snobby things to your coworkers that begin with "my suitmaker..."

As the man just said, "Off Of E-Bay"!

I think the question is infelicitously worded, as others have noted. I think we'd all "prefer" it if our wives looked liked supermodels, but realistically most of them don't. I think the OP meant to ask which option we actually choose.

If that's the question, then I can answer it. I wasn't sure how to answer it as put. If $ were no object I'd have everything bespoked, since I'm saving to put 2 kids through college, retire to a sailboat in the Caribbean and support our vacation habit I "make do" with MTM and OTR.

Quicker, easier, and cheaper. If someone (like me) is a good fit off the rack, MTM is just a step up in options, and these people can be perfectly happy.

I'm starting to consider MTM or bespoke because I just can't find a shirt that fits both my neck and my shoulders/arms. What kind of prices am I looking at, and where should I look online? Does anybody know a store in the Dallas area that I could go to for either of these options. Keep in mind that I'm looking for affordable options.

For the shirting you can just pick up the phone and call a few tailors near your house or office. There are many in my smaller city that do bespoke shirts at reasonable prices.

For suits it depends on price and the brand. I'm partial to Canali so if there MTM is reasonable and they have a pattern that I like then that is probably the way to go.

But bespoke, I would prefer if the MTM is priced the same as bespoke or if the pattern is available only bespoke.
