I recommend Davies & Son, 38 Savile Row. Speak to Alan Bennett.

Otherwise, I haven't used the other tailors listed.

Good luck.

Would it be fair to say that he should feel free to use your name as a reference?

Thank you for any information

I use Ede & Ravenscroft and am happy with the results. However, the best thing you could do rather than take random individual recommendations would be to familiarise with yourself with the suits emerging from the different tailors - there are a number of threads here and on AAAC discussing the various subtle (and not-so subtle!) differences between the various institutions in question. You're bound to find yourself more enamoured of one than another. Then it's a matter of having a chat with your shortlist and seeing which place makes you feel most confident of meeting your needs.

That would be my suggestion, anyway.

There's plenty in London. Most of the Savile Row firms, and firms just off Savile Row, should, with perhaps a few exceptions, be within your budget for most fabrics (or only a couple of hundred pounds off). See the 'Savile Row Tailors' thread on AskAndy for the details you need to start on your shortlist.

The base price of a suit at Davies is about 2,100.

Unless you pick a luxury cloth, 2,500 will be more than enough for a two piece at a good number of reputable tailors. At some tailors you can get a three piece within your budget.

There are a good number of tailors "off Savile Row" who charge a good amount less than 2,500.

Good luck!

Indeed. I hate to say it, but it seems like a lot of tailors on Savile Row charge more simply because the rent is high there.
