Bespoke wholecut adelaides in dark chestnut Russian reindeer. The fit is nothing short of perfect, and Cleverley nailed the design and color I had in mind.

Manton and others have pointed out in the past how incredibly light Cleverley's shoes are. I was surprised to notice how true this was in real life - you barely feel the weight of the shoes. After trying on the Cleverleys, I immediately put on a pair of my lightest shoes (JP Tod's knob-soled drivers), and they felt no lighter than the Cleverleys. Amazing.

On the inside corner of each shoe, I had my initials punched into the leather in an interlocking design. This is discreetly executed and the initials are not visible unless one is very close to the shoes (or if a pic is taken). Also, note that the leather is cracked and discolored in various places - this is not a defect as one may suspect, but rather a peculiarity of the Russian reindeer leather (which I was told to expect before I placed an order).

Is it pronounced "Clever-ly" or "Cleaver-ly"?

Very nice shoes. I like much.

Are these the same Russian reindeer that's salvaged off the sunken ship?

They're beautiful. For comparison, how much of a premium over their typical pricing?

Thanks. Surprisingly, the Russian reindeer carries a 'reasonable' surcharge over regular calfskin shoes (500 pounds or so). Still comes out much cheaper than the exotics.

I think the upcharge is more like 200 pounds. I don't recall the exact figures, but I was just there and I asked. It certainly was not 500.

Nice shoes, BTW. I want to get double monks in reindeer someday.

Really? I was quoted 1,550 GBP for regular calfskin and 2,054 GBP for the Russian reindeer.
