with price not being an issue, would anyone be kind enough to recommend a tailor in nyc, who is good at recreating the look of the Italian suits from the 60's (ala La Dolce Vita)?  if not, just a good Italian bespoke tailor?  thank you.

I don't know about NYC. But in Italy there are a lot of very good tailors, especially in Naples, and they have a good price also, in particular if you go out of the big cities.

I know. But unfortunately I don't have the time go to to the Naples. So I am looking for a tailor in NYC.

    Sorry.

I can't believe in NYC there are no good tailors.

How is the scene down there?

    And:

I agree with you; best time for men's suit was England '30 and Italy '60.

Criminy, do some searches. A question seeking a bespoke tailor was posted here all of last week. Off the top of my head, there are probably 25 threads devoted to this topic, although none specifically about the Continental cut you are searching for. If you lose patience, you can always try Borrelli or Attolini, as they both seem to have a cut similar to that spare look and at least Attolini does some bespoke.

I already read those threads and I did not find any names that could i find phone numbers too. I already get MTM suits from Attolini and Kiton. I am looking for a true bespoke (3 plus fittings) experience in NYC without having to go to Naples.

I will second the vote for Raphael, although I haven't used any other NYC tailors, so I can't compare him with anyone else. His work is exquisite.

(Manton @ 07 Oct. 2004, 08:16) I am most impressed by Raphael. Â He makes a sort of "soft Roman" suit, very much like Caraceni Rome. Â But it is more structured than a true Neapolitan, and has less drape.

Kai: that suit you posted pics of a while ago was outstanding, I'd recommend Raphael just based on that. Maybe someone can provide a link for this guy to that old post.
