Brands

Part of a series of conversations between StyleForum posters (and why these posters need a separate, special threads for these conversations is a question better left unasked), this thread is all about the idea of brands. Brand are an oft debated topic around these parts – does something have an intrinsic quality because of who manufactured it? Or is fit and finishing the only truly important quality?

Bespoke Bitchfest

This thread – where StyleForum affiliate Gianni Cerruti talks about his favorite local Neopolitan tailor – is great for two reasons. First, it’s an education into a rare type of Italian shoulder construction that is a little peacockish yet undeniably well made. And second, it involves a pretty epic bitchfight between two StyleForum posters about bespoke tailor ranking. Awesome.

I like this one. Both because the Civil Discussion Thread is mentioned and because of the excellent use of the word bitchfest.

I say this with the greatest possible respect, but publicizing this thread, as it is now, is the last thing you should be doing if your want any respect for Styleforum and if you value the 'sense of community' here. What you should be doing is closing it locking it and bringing the ban hammer down at least one, if not two of the participants.

However, the 'bitchfight' (is that really language that the forum promoters should be using?) should have been stopped before it started, so that what was pontentially a valuable and interesting thread could have flourished.
