I think most rich folks are not like us fussing over whether Lobb Paris is better than Lobb original or whether CJ UK is better than CJ Gomez.

He was probably advised Lobbs and Berlutis are the best money can buy and so he went and buy as many pairs and as often as he wants. Its not his money anyway.

I'm a size 9! anybody ever done one of these auctions before? bidders of any kind need to submit a deposit beforehand - are these all refundable if you don't win anything? it's clear for live, unclear for online

To register you will need a valid photo ID and a $500 cash deposit. Deposits for unsuccessful bidders will be returned in the same form when exiting.

Upon the conclusion of the auction or bidding; Buyers will be required to verify purchases, make final payment and/or discuss final payment arrangements and receive checkout instructions prior to exiting the auction facility.

Online Simulcast Bidding:To bid register at www.txauction.com 24/7 and submit a $1,000 deposit no later than 10:00 A.M. EST, on Thursday, November 11th to Gaston & Sheehan Auctioneers, Inc. by any acceptable payments listed below. The pre-bidding feature will be available.

About a year ago there was an auction for their jewerly, watches and some art. It was a waste of time. Almost everything went for above market or brand new retail prices. Not a single deal to be had then. I guess people wanted a piece of a history. Not sure what kind of prices his used clothes will sell at though.

His feet are my size so I'm gonna try bidding again. That's one hell of a shoe rotation he has.

Edit: On second thought, no lots worth buying. 333 looks okay but I don't know what kind of shoes they are.

His polo shirt says he was a member of the NYYC. Was that also fraudulent?

Anyone want to proxy bid for all of us on the shoes and then we'll divide them up. I don't need 30 pairs, but I'd like the whole cuts. I'm sure some will find their way to the bay or the B&S forum here, but at a considerable markup from the final bid average.

There's something inherently pathetic about having your worldly possessions on display like this, bearing in mind the obvious backstory. I suppose that's the least of concerns for anyone involved in the Madoff story (inc. old Bernie himself), aside from the fact that bilked investors will presumably be on the receiving end of some/all of the proceeds (a pittance in the scope of things). Mountains of excess purchased with money that was never his. Pathetic, soulless and filthy.

Agreed and well stated.

The idea of buying clothes that he wore spooks me. What kind of person would buy his ties or shoes and wear them? Or just collect them?

He is not worth celebrating.

I don't think anybody thinks he is worth celebrating. but what should become of his clothes? they should be thrown out? or someone who has worked for their money should enjoy them (or make money with them)

I too am curious to see what some of his clothes sell for. are they worth more or less b/c his name is attached to them?
