The picture was sent to me of a Berluti Un Jour Cacao briefcase (bag on the left in the picture) by a Berluti store - I appreciate that it is difficult/maybe impossible to tell but does the bag look shop-worn at all - I am referring to the striations that seem to be visible on the bag - the store says that is natural and bag looks brand new...opinions appreciated...thank you.

To be honest it is quite hard to judge from the picture. I donĀ“t know about Berluti or this bag in particular but there are leathers where this is intentional. It depends on the leather if those crisps/stripes are visible and feelable as small waves on the outside I woulds say that this is bad, if it is more like a crack it is bad as well. If it is in the leather it should be alright. Sorry for the vage expressions.

Berluti does not sell used/worn items in its stores. Both bags are friggin' gorgeous.

    Wait, you smell that?
Based on the uniformity on the leather, that is certainly an inherent characteristic for that particular bag. I suspect the effect is enhanced due to the flash or the light reflecting off the glass. But you either like the look or you don't. I don't think this bag is shop worn. And I'd be astonished if the shop left the bags in direct sunlight (looks like they put it on the counter in front of the window to take the pic for you).
