What is the general view on these wo shoemakers? I personally like the suttleness and classic look of the JL RTW, but am curious what other forum-members believe.

In my opinion, the only reason to choose Berluti is if you are getting one of their more interesting, fashion-forward designs. If you are simply getting a classic shoe, John Lobb has better construction and makes more sense.

Also, I don't want to bring back up the shitstorm that we had a little while ago, but there are quite a few reports of Berluti leather going to pot after a bit of wear. So, like zjpj said, go with Lobb unless you want a real attention-getting, not all that wearable showpiece kind of a shoe.

I think Lobb is generally better made but my Berlutis have held up well.
