No offense, but that's sort of Miata territory. If I lived in your neck of the woods, I'd be glad to race you. I don't race, I drive. My insurance is expensive enough without a reckless ticket. Oh, and the miata has about 140hp. I'm more in the Boxster/Cayman range (305bhp). However, I didn't buy the SLK to race, I bought it because it has a power hardtop and enough HP to keep things fun for me, it is lighter than the SL, has a V6 rather than the gas-hungry V8 of the SLK-55, has features that I like, and is honestly the most thrilling car I have ever driven (for more reasons than speed). Obviously, there are faster cars on the road and that fact doesn't bother me a bit, nor do I care at all. I enjoy driving up to Stevens Pass with my girlfriend, with the top down, at legal speeds (but barely). Last weekend, we drove across the pass and into the sun, listening to CDs and chatting, with the top down. It was a perfect day, and when an obviously turbo'd IS300 pulled up next to us wanting to race, I just smiled at the guy and waved. I'm busy enjoying the mountain views and listening to my girlfriend ramble on about Rimsky-Korsakov while her hair gets blown around by the wind. There is only one car on the market like my SLK, and that is my SLK. And I love it. I'm really crazy about the car. My lifetime dream car has always been a 1974 Ferrari Dino 246GTS (red). But ya know, I don't think I would trade my SLK for that car. That's how happy I am with it. Good on ya that you've got a badass in the garage. Hope you like it as much as I love my SLK, and perhaps I'll see ya up on a mountain pass some day.
