Benjamin Bixby: Polo Ralph Lauren knockoffs (or homage) with a higher price tag?

I saw the Benjamin Bixby sale on Gilt today and all the items look like Polo RL or Rugby knockoffs (homage some will say). What's the deal with BB? Are they better quality, better looking, better fitting or just overpriced because of the celebrity of Andre 3000?

I was actually interested in them UNTIL I heard they were linked to Andre 3000. I just can't abide by '30s style prep wear designed by a rapper.

I hate rap, I really can't explain how much. I prefer my prep wear designed by a Jew from the Bronx. Say what you will.

Precisely. As I stated above.

Both are equally as "unqualified" to design what is essentially clothing associated with upper class WASPs. However, I just can't stomach Andre 3000. I like some of the clothes, but can't get past the man behind them. I am sure he has a team behind the clothes, in all reality...but whatever. I know it is stupid, but it smacks me as absurd.

Sigh. "Rappers" are human too, not part of a distinct species forever restricted to FUBU clothes, you know?

Yes, I am aware. I am not stereotyping rappers. My issue is WTF does Andre 3000 know about 1930's Varsity Wear, the inspiration for his line? I don't know, it just sounds stupid to me and far fetched.

Whatever, I am done defending myself on this one. I know I am irrational, but C'est La Vie.

What were you doing in the 1930's that was so great?
