Please be forewarned this will probably be the easiest conundrum you've ever come across. It was certainly very embarrassing to type out.

I have been given a belt as a gift, a bit of a weird gift idea, and have no idea how to fastens. It looks a bit like the picture at the end of this post. The main difference is that instead of holes/spokes to fasten the belt, it has teeth. Just threading the belt through the clasp and over the teeth secures it a bit, however it doesn't feel that tight and I am worried it might fall off. How does this type of belt fasten? Yes, I am too embarrassed to ask the giver of the gift.

Thanks.

The easiest solution is to not wear this kind of belt. Just because you received it as a gift does not mean you have to use it. These types of belts scream immature and cheap.

It's supposed to be worn tight enough so that the pegs/teeth will hold it in place on their own.

Placket belts in general can be OK but I'm not a fan of this one. patrickBOOTH is right; the act of it being given to you does not obligate you to wear it. Maybe once in the presence of the giver.

thread the strap through the buckle.
when you have it snug enough, press the inner and outer parts of the buckle together .
you pinch them together with your fingers. this allows the teeth of the buckle to grip the back of the leather.
