Belt buckle for a suit

Hi,

I have always thought the following type of belt (i.e. that type of buckle) was more suitable for suits(!) and chinos.

However, I have seen the belt below (ignoring the logo) mentioned frequently on this form. In my opinion the belt below is too smart for jeans, but also too "loud" for a suit. I have one I never wear it. If you have one, what do you wear it with.

Thoughts?

I agree! I prefer side adjusters. But many people still have belt loops, so the question still remains.

I really don't like the second belt . With a suit I think you look like a 15 year old who has been rorced by occassion/parents to wear a suit and the belt is your sign of rebellion. With jeans it looks too thin, and the leather too formal/smart.

Or do others disagree

I like belts with suits, but certainly not the second one your showed - I think they were quite popular in the 1980s which should tell you something.

Slide buckles are actually pretty popular right now and I like them. They were de rigueur in the sixties, and like everything are back. My advice is keep them simple - no monograms and certainly no designer names.
