In Boston (Chestnut Hill actually) the men's Bloomingdale's carry them. My guess is the NJ and NY stores would have them as well. I emailed Belstaff a month ago re: one of their bags, asking them where I could find it (Bloomingdale's only has jackets) and never heard a word from them. Nice customer service.

GQ has been flogging Belstaff pretty hard lately. You can check in there "where to find it" in one of the back issues if you don't get an answer here.

BTW They have just changed their website to an UNBELIEVABLY IRRITATING javascript browser hijacker thing that wants you to download some random software and takes over the entire screen. HUGE thumbs down. There is nothing that will turn me off faster to a company's website than what they have done.

Belstaff rocks. It is a shame it's going mainstream...

I've been searching as well for anything on this side of the pond and had a chance to contact the regional headquarters in New York City. Unfortunately, their location isn't actually a store at all, but they did provide me with some really good information on where to obtain Belstaff products!

The following is a list of stores they referred me to in New York City:

    Michael (M) as mentioned above

    Untitled
    26 W 8th Street
    212-505-9725

    What Comes Around Goes Around
    351 West Broadway
    212-343-9303

    Barneys NYC

    Saks NYC

For those of you looking for a New England location, I think Alan Bilzerian on Newbury Street will be carrying them for the spring/summer, and hasn't received stock as of yet in 2008.

    Alan Bilzerian
    34 Newbury Street
    Boston, MA 02116
    (617) 536-1001

And for the alternate, there is a Barbour Store as well in Boston:

    Barbour by Peter Elliot
    134 Newbury Street
    Boston, MA 02116
    (617) 375-7829

    Hope this helps!

Having only had experience w/Barbour, what's the reason for the higher Belstaff price tag? Barbour stuff seems constructed w/pretty damn high standards. It's hard to think that something could be more bullet-proof than those are.

^^ dont know the real answer, but my guess is Belstaff being popular with punters due to films like I am Legend etc has made them more desirable and the price prolly reflects that

Belstaff puts a lot more work (probably more than any other design house, really) in its aging processes. Not that that at all accounts for all of the price, of course. Most of it is marketing and brand placement, and they're very aggressive with getting their stuff into almost every single remotely large budget movie possible. It works, so they charge what they do because they can.

That said, the actual riding side of the line is much more reasonably priced (maybe 30-50% more than comparable Barbour). Still a lot, but not nearly as stupid.

Plus Belstaff has a pretty storied history, with very popular figures of their time wearing their product. Most notably Ernesto Che Guevara and Steve McQueen all had their hands on one, and Belstaff has made tribute coats in limited edition numbers to honor them. The Legend version of the Trailmaster is just one of many jackets worn by actors and seems to be a rising favorite among Hollywood - The ones I know who wear them in films are: Leonardo DiCaprio (in The Aviator and The Departed), Will Smith (in I Am Legend), Tom Cruise (in Mission Impossible III and War of the Worlds), Naomi Watts (in Eastern Promises), William H. Macy (in Wild Hogs), Christian Bale (in the Dark Knight), Cate Blanchett/Heath Ledger (in I'm Not There), Johnny Depp (in Sweeny Todd), James Marsden (in X-Men 3), Kevin Spacey (in Superman Returns) and Reese Witherspoon (in Penelope).

Ernesto Che Guevara had their hands on one........ Naomi Watts (in Eastern Promises)... and Reese Witherspoon (in Penelope).

Che....main reason I have a personal issue against Belstaff, not that the company endorsed him or anything...just one of those anti-commie things I get hung up about

Naomi Watts in EP....[IMG] fuck she looked good in her Trialmaster

as did Reese, tho not as schwingy as Naomi
