I've had very little experience with DHL, but am currently waiting for a package from Germany, sent through them. I paid $75 shipping and it has been 5 weeks, still no package. This is not inspiring confidence...

So... I checked the website again, and no movement on the package. I emailed the shipper, and they assured me that they have contacted DHL to correct the mistake. Of course, they didn't catch the mistake at Gatwick, then missed it again in Brussels, and it got onto some truck in Moscow, Russian Federation, The, before someone said "Hey, this can't be right." And now apparently the thing is sitting in a Russian DHL facility somewhere in Moscow, possibly with the missing nukes. It's been there for 2 full days now. The funny thing is that it doesn't appear to be lost. It's just there.

It's really not that expensive a package. But typically, when I pay for something, I expect to get that something. I am tempted to ask the shipper to just send me a new package, and to retrieve the other package at their own convenience. I'll tell you how it goes. How about a bet on when I will actually get my shoes?

Fok.

I'm sure that if you lived in Paris, Texas, you'd have the same problem.

So, since it arrived at a DHL center in Moscow, Russian Federation, The, on January 6, my package has:

January 09, 2008 19:17 Moscow - Russian Federation, The Departed from DHL facility in Moscow - Russian Federation, The

January 10, 2008 09:30 Moscow - Russian Federation, The Arrived at DHL facility in Moscow - Russian Federation, The

Now, I am an optimistic guy, so I am hoping that DHL figured out the mistake, and sent the package to the main facility to be sent to the US, as the shipper has requested.

Of course, the "Destination Service Area" still says "Moscow, Russian Federation, The", so I have nagging feeling that my package is going to be bandied all around Moscow, Russia, in perpetuity, with every Muscovite DHL driver trying to figure out where I live. We'll see when I wake up whether it has departed from the Russian Moscow for its US counterpart.

it would be hilarious if the same guy who picked it up thought he made a mistake, and dropped it back where he got it. ok not so funny for you, but it's amusing for me at least

I once had an invoice arrive a week after a DHL delivery claiming I owed them $47 for a 'customs inspections'. I challenged the retailer I purchased the delivered items from and made it clear I would not pay the fee. They said they weren't liable either.

It's been months now and I never got a follow-up from DHL. It almost seems like a spot of random extortion. I've even had subsequent deliveries via DHL without hassle.

The local DHL deliverymen also have an annoying habit of knocking once, then running off leaving behind only their "we'll be back in 2 days" card.
