Beautiful tank type watch

Following my recent education regarding the value of Quartz type watches, and learning that perhaps a Cartier French tank is probably not the best value, I found this piece from Maurice Lacroix. I love the style, though the bracelet is not my favourite. http://www.2000watches.com/vshop....ex.html I like watches in this style, and I prefer simplicity, therefore a chronograph type watch is lost on me in this style of watch. (The chrono French tank is endlessly ugly to me). Therefore, would this be one of my best options for this style of watch, given that these are usually quartz?

It's like a Hampton, but has roman numerals which I prefer. You think it's still too expensive?

What makes the Baume & Mercier a better value, if you like the Hampton more?

The Cartier Roadster is kinda a tank style watch with an automatic (ETA/Bvlgari GP) movement...

I like it because it's a cross between a conventional round shape and the more common tank Cartier shape.

I didn't say it was expensive but that the discount was not big enough for a unknown brand. If you can have 30% on B&M, you should have at least the same on this brand.

Maurice Lacroix isn't an unknown brand... it's fairly widely publicized that Rodger Federer is having a line of watches made with them. I'm only interested in this brand because I like the watch that I link to above though.

If you like the look of the Cartier tanks and you don't object to a quartz movement, you may want to take a look at the watches that Coach sells. Â Their lines are clearly "inspired" by the Cartier style, but their prices are significantly lower. Â I'm pretty sure Movado makes them under contract. Â The Coach website shows a limited number of models, but I've seen more in their stores.

Very nice, and seems to have superior movement to a run of the mill Quartz watch? I still do prefer roman numerals however, I don't know why.

The Miros isn't bad, though it's more like a Tank Americaine than Francaise. The roman numerals look really cramped on the Cartier and look better spaced on the recatangular shaped watch. This Citizen Eco drive Stiletto has a cleaner face but I'm not enamored with the band: http://www.princetonwatches.com/shop/AR1000-51A.asp Or, you could always go for this for ultimate in value.

imho baume mercier hampton milleis is most attractive of this type for price range between $800 to $3000..also a plus is the fact that it is available in automatic/mechanical rather than only quartz..

I would say that the Baume & Mercier is perhaps the best value, given that a superior movement is optional, but the aesthetic appeal of the Tank frank is much greater for me.
