I'm hoping you folks can help me decide on a new wallet. I've had an old leather Dockers wallet for years that I hate and I want to upgrade to something nice. Here is what I've seen that I like. I'd like to hear other recommendations if anyone has any too. 1 Louis Vuitton Damier Ebene 2 Paul Smith with Interior Multi Stripe 3 Swaine Adeney Brigg Hip Wallet Standard 4 Smythson Mocha and Tan I like the pattern on the Louis Vuitton but it seems kind of gaudy to me. I like the simple outside and crazy inside on the Paul Smith but it seems flamboyant. I'm leaning towards the Smythson. I like simplicity and minimalism. I worry I'll get bored of the patterns on the other wallets. However this might be a problem with the Smythson if I'm bored by it from the beginning. I'd like to hear some other opinions.

The first 2 are just as you say, gaudy and flamboyant.

The second 2 are more understated and elegant. I just use a moneyclip myself and a card holder.

Agreed on avoiding the LV.

I have something in between your wants. I bought a black, calfskin leather wallet with purple, lizard inside from Pickett (well I bought it on the B&S forum). I love it. It's subtle and minimalist on the outside, and then no one expects purple lizard on the inside. It has the punch you like in the PS w/o being too flamboyant. Very nice quality too.

I don't like any of them personally. I am a fan of well made black or brown calfskin wallet. The only decoration that i allow for on my wallet is my initials.

That subtle on the outside, crazy on the inside definitely appeals to me. Thank you for making the decision even more difficult. lol LV is definitely out. Also I've had a money clip before but I found it too burdensome so I switched back to wallet. Everyone else feel free to post what wallet you use.

Hermes makes fantastic wallets. So does Valextra.

I also have a Goyard card case for if I'm trying to keep things slim (drivers license, credit card, two or three bills).

When I was in my early 20's, I bought a slim Tumi cardholder. Nothing fancy, not terribly expensive. I has lasted me for 10+ years.

Go slim, any good leather will do.
