Would like to see what you guys think... If there's another shoe in suede (no monkstraps please), I'd love to see it

No contest, imo. I'm not a fan of the AE triple-wing-thing.
Alden's model might merit a look too.

That's not a fair fight, son. Maybe battle the Drummond suede against that Finsbury suede.

Well, I know the A-E McClain is not going to fit because it's on the #8 last, which is a poor fit on my feet. For that reason I'd probably have to choose the C&J Drummond because it's an unknown quantity and might fit well.

Aesthetically I do not have a strong preference between either shoe.

Much prefer the appearance of the C&J, and the Finsbury is even nicer. Whether either fits is another issue altogether. My next (i.e., first) pair of suede wingtips may instead come from EG which has a last that I know works for me-- or a bespoke maker if I'm feeling especially foolish.

^ +1. And I prefer it to the the suede McClain too. But it didn't stop me from buying a pair of the McClains last week. At $159 from the AE Shoe Bank, I couldn't help myself.

C&J, by a mile.

This fall I plan on adding a pair of suede brogues, and the drummond are a candidate, as are the Belgrave.

My other contender is Vass full brogue on the U last.

The AE is a touch clunkity. Of the two, the C&J is far hotter. However, I vote for a write-in candidate:

These are on clearance at aldenshop.com for $255. They're on the Hampton last. Just trying to confuse the issue for you.
