So I'm trying to change my style entirely as my current wardrobe isn't exactly where I would like it to be.

I've been researching online about men's fashion and style (I've particularly enjoyed https://boystogents.org/, https://www.artofmanliness.com/ & https://www.mensjournal.com/) but I was just wondering if the normal population of StyleForum had any tips for me?

I'm around 6'3 (190cm) and am quite slender.

Any help would be super appreciated!

You’re going to have to give us some context here. We’re not mind readers. What is your current wardrobe? Why isn’t it “exactly where you would like it to be”? How old are you? Are you talking about dressing for work, outside of work, both? Budget?

My apologies! First post in a major forum so still getting used to interacting!

I'm 22 years old, and have always had hand me downs being the youngest sibling. I've now managed to get some of my own clothes but a lot of the items are still hand me downs from my older brothers.

This is also why it isn't where I would like it to be as half of the clothes aren't mine. They are ill fitting and aren't really my taste. I know I need new clothes and style but I just don't really know where to begin!

I like simple colours but I am happy to experiment with 'bolder' pieces. Whether they be brighter colours, different types of trousers other than jeans and chinos, different types of shirts, anything really!

This would be mainly for outside of work, but because I don't require uniform, I can wear any smarter pieces I buy both in work and out of work.

The budget would be as cheap as possible, so I don't mind buying cheaper items to see if I like the look and feel, then upgrade to a higher quality piece once I know I like the style (eg. a £7 black jumper upgraded to a high quality £30 black jumper).

I hope that helps a little more!

You’re probably going to have to experiment a bit to find brands that fit you well that you can afford

focus on getting basics that fit well in neutral colors (navy and gray are versatile)

Save your money to get 2-3 decent pairs of shoes and learn how to take care of them if you don’t already know

once you have enough basic items to get you through the week, acquire additional items slowly with a plan for how they will be integrated into what you already have
