I am attempting to buy one of these as a Christmas gift for my brother. He is a 42R for most of his suits. I am wondering if anyone knows how the sizing is for these. I am not sure if I should pick him up a M or L. I appreciate any feedback.

I emailed one of the companies carrying this peacoat and this is what they told me in terms of the actual measurements:

Size: Medium:

Chest: 22" / 55.5cm
Arm Length: 23.5" / 59.4cm
Shoulder: 17.5" / 44.4cm
Overall Length: 31.5" / 80cm

Size: Large:

Chest: 23" / 58.5cm
Arm Length: 24" / 61cm
Shoulder: 18.5" / 49.9cm
Overall Length: 32" / 81.3cm

I just got my coat, I'd say those measurements the company gave me aren't very accurate. I'm a 40R and I felt the medium was alright if you wanted to layer with it. If I wanted a truly fitted coat a S might even work for me. So I'd definitely recommend you go with the medium on this for you brother. Overall a nice coat, very well made, my only problem with it is that the armholes are low.
Best,
Grad
