Can someone tell me what is the difference between Beaufort and bedale? Is the different being the length of Bedale is shorter?

Bedale has a two side vents, closed by a brass snap. It also has elasticated cuffs. It's 1" shorter than a suit jacket. Beafort is ventless and has a gamekeepers pocket in the back. It has nylon cuffs that close with velcro inside the sleeve (you can't see them when you're wearing the jacket) and it falls just where your suit jacket falls.

To get a size 36 for either of this 2 model, Do you think it is still too big for a 37R guy?

They're full in the body but true-to-size in the shoulders/arms. A 36 will not work unless you have short arms.

I am a 36 and got a small in a vintage fit Beaufort. I thought it was a little roomy, but then I got a 36" liner, which was very snug on its own, but tightened up the overall fit when you zipped it into the jacket. So I would leave a little room for that.

Okay, bumping this because I have a question that was not answered in the "Ask a Question" thread.

I just bought a Barbour Bedale, size 30 (Yes they actually exist). It fits wonderfully in the chest/body but the length (which measures 30") is too long as well... it actually looks more like a Beaufort on me. I am thinking I will send it into Barbour and see if they can shorten it by maybe 2", but I can't figure out how this would be possible. Anyone have any experience shortening these or know if it can be done?

Hi Alter - sorry to reply to such an old post but do you have any pictures of your lengthened Barbour? Thinking about sending mine in for the same. Thanks!

I don't actually have that coat anymore but I found this old pic when I was wearing it. You can see the strip at the bottom is a slightly different colour...though it really wasn't noticeable when wearing it. I receommend getting the ateration done if the coat is too short.

Sorry to bring up an old post. But I am very curious, how many cm/inches were added to this coat? Thinking of sending mine in. Thank you.
