Wow, so you have to force yourself to like them. Like lima beans.

Personally, I think they peaked with Kid A...though In Rainbow wasn't too bad.

No, you don't have to force yourself. Their music and lyrics aren't appealing to everybody initially, but a lot of Radiohead fans I know got into them once they gave the music some good time and many listens.

    I don't care for-

    Led Zeppelin
    Pink Floyd
    The Who
    Rolling Stones

And I am not too fussed about it either.

another one for me is the 5678s

    they have the right mix....influenced by 60s garage and 50s rock n roll.....3 japanese chicks......have "a look"

but I just cant get into it, it's too sonically dissonant to me and I cant find the groove

I once felt the same way about Guitar Wolf...

*edited once I realized I haven't listened to them in 10 years [IMG]

I had thought about throwing in a "and Guitar Wolf" but I actually do like a bunch of their songs, and that band is *so cool* that there's no way I could ever say I wish I liked them more than I do

Why are people posting The Killers in this category? They write (on their debut album, at least) catchy, generic guitar-pop tunes--nothing remotely innovative.

If you wanted to get into something similar that actually has some substance, you could at least complain that you don't like early Weezer.

Sorry, it's Arcade Fire isn't it? There's an Arcadia neighborhood here in Phoenix.

I was trying to name bands that would apparently make me hip if I actually listened to them [IMG]

Kanye is fun and lyrical, really have to pay attention to what he is saying because his beats often aren't that catchy.

See, I have the opposite feeling- I love his beats but I really don't like his rapping, although I really liked "Jesus Walks" and a few other songs off of "College Dropout". I really don't like his general D-bag demeanor too.

I never saw the point of listening to Pavement since I own a bunch of Fall albums, which are much better than anything Malkmus has done or will ever do.

The Fall and Pavement are really quite dissimilar to me. The solo stuff from Malkmus I've passed on as well.

    Sunn O)))
    Boredoms
    Venetian Snares
    Yo La Tengo
    Boris
Silver Jews/Stephen Malkmus and the Jicks/Pavement

I think you need to be in the right mood to listen to stuff like WhiteHouse/Throbbing Gristle/Flipper/Einstrurzende Neubaten(sp?)/MBV/Merzbow/Boards of Canada(mellow)/Jesu/Boredoms/Boris/Sunn O))) , etc.
If you want to like stuff like Boredowms, etc try LIghtning Bolt. Some of the noise stuff is a little one dimensional, but LB is a little more accessible.

As far as Yo La Tengo, Solo Malkmus stuff and Silver Jews - I'll have to agree with ya - like a few songs, but they get little play. Although I'd rather hear that, than say, My Chemical Romance - bleh.

Wow, really? I don't understand how anyone can like Pavement and not the Jicks, unless he just happened to be a Spiral Stairs kinda guy.[IMG]
