True. And just like anything else, some of the posters on SF pull it off well, others less so. I like to think of bandanas as scarves you're allowed to wear in summer.

^^I love the idea of a "summer scarf"^^

I've tried wearing a bandana around my neck, but I can't pull it off. Although, I did wear one around my old 'fro (headband style) while moving furniture in the heat. I don't think it looked half bad actually.

I've tried wearing one inside of a button-up so it's hidden except for where the very top button is undone, but I'm not sure about it. I really like bandanas though, and I'll find a way to make them work in my wardrobe one of these days.

i wouldnt say they are "trendy" per se, at least not yet, but the numbers are definately rising where i live (chicago). i was at pitchfork music fest (indie lollapalooza) a few weeks back and saw quite a few. it has been a punk staple for years however and ive had one in my back pocket for some time and i will throw it around my neck once in a while. i love wearing scaves so in the summer it is a good alternative.

on another note my friend jessica has been rocking them forever and does it better than most.

During a certain phase I was wearing a black one all the time, wrapped wide around my head with my hair sticking out the top. It looked... scary. Occasionally I would tie it up (what I imagined to be) g-style with the knot in the front. That was after I clippered my hair all the way down. It also looked scary that way. I think bandannas just look scary on me. I like to keep one around though, for sweeping the dusty garage, or to tie around my eyes when trying to nap during the day, etc.

Oh yeah, and occasionally when playing a gig I would tie it over my nose (and below) when taking the mic, to look more badass or something.

This question is easy to answer. In Soho, the climate is warm enough, for this reason, most likely, they wear a cooling bandanna. Just recently, I found a good site where I could learn everything about bandanas ( click here for info )
