I havent seen too many band collar shirts here on SF. Whats the general consensus on them? I personally think they look OK given the type of shirt.

I found this one pretty sweet at a good price and was thinking whether to cop or not, never worn a band collar...do you need to iron it everyday?

Thanks!

There's nothing wrong with them in principle. Perhaps the reason for that is that many people who wear ban collar shirts tend to be real tools (eg. Bouncers at a night club). However it's definitely something I think you shouldn't be afraid to try.

Is it me, or has there been a disturbing preponderance of aburd questions in this forum of late?

I'm starting to like them when they are worn open like the one in the pic you posted but, that example also appears to be about twice as high as your normal banded collar. Sort of just looks like a popped collar. So, I like normal height banded collars worn open. There are some examples but I think I saw them all in 60's movies and am not going to go look for a still that probably doesn't exist. I just noticed the epaulets also, not a fan.

too thick. i like my banded collars like this:

sometimes i pair them with a military jacket or something else with a nehru collar, it looks pretty interesting and i've garnered compliments from co-workers and women at bars.

then again, i'm asian so i might be able to pull that sort of thing off better than most white dudes.

Eh, why is it absurd?

I was just giving the picture above as an example and wondering what was SF's views on it as I have thought about purchasing it myself. Personally I wouldn't wear it because I wouldn't know how to wear it...

Is that even a band collar in the first picture? It looks like a regular collar but popped up (and it looks ridiculous).

When I think band collar, I think moreso that picture of the Rugby shirt... and I, personally, think they look ridiculous in real life. I tried on one of those Rugby ones one and I looked like I was wearing Scrooge's pajamas in a Christmas Carol.

ps i used the rugby shirt as an example of the collar. the real shirt fits pretty bad. i have a one similar from h&m and another from zara, i feel like a shirt like that shouldn't have a front pocket.

For some odd reason, I can't handle wearing band collared shirts. I feel naked, or like I've lost something.
