I have an interview with Banana Republic this coming Friday and I don't know what to wear. I previously worked at Levi's and their style is completely different from BR's. Seeking helpful advice from previous/current employees and/or fashion gurus. Please help me make a good first impression. Thanks in advance!

Is this Gap Corp. or just for the store as a S.A.?

Thanks for the thread. I was thinking along the lines of blazer, shirt, jeans, and shoes but I don't know how to execute the look properly.

It's the retail store, if that's what you were wondering. Not sure what S.A. stands for.

Wear some smart well fitted dark jeans, brown dress shoes (whatever you have should do), button down shirt with a v-neck sweater over it. That should be good enough.

I would wear banane republic-type of clothes (if you own actual BR clothes, even better). I would say khaki's or dark cotton pants/jeans, collared shirt and a fashiony blazer. Keep the look young, don't wear a navy blazer with gold buttons.

Look at their ads and their website and use that for inspiration. I would suggest a suit, but since employees there don't seem to wear them (someone correct me if I'm wrong since I don't shop there), I can imagine that not being neccessary.

Maybe go in, buy a few sale items from their store - trousers, dress shirt, and where that. Don't make it a point in telling them it's from BR but you want them to like what they see - style wise.

I was talking about Sturmabteilung but whatever.

You should be fine with a button down shirt, caridgan, knit tie, and khakis. This isnt a corporate job so casual dress is more than fine.

It's a mall job. Just wear a style that they like.

+1. I actually worked there for a year doing stock. Jeans + Nice shoes (not sneakers) + Button Down should be fine. At least for the interview, try and play up how flexible you are with regards to scheduling. do NOT wear a suit. You will look like you're trying too hard.

Their employee dress code does not allow jeans to be worn on the sales floor so I would suggest chinos or other non-denim pants.

This is easy. Are you just being lazy? At most places of business you cannot simply invite yourself into the office order to view the work environment, but at a retail store you can!

Just go by the store before your interview and discretely pose as customer while noting what the employees and manager are wearing. Then try to match that look so the person doing the hiring will have an easier time envisioning you as an employee.

Wear as much Banana Republic to the interview as possible. If they don't notice, then mention it to them. If that doesn't make them happy I don't know what will.
